Cafe Mural
acrylic on exterior wall
July 2006
This mural was created for Mocha Moose, a coffee shop in North Pole. Working together with the owner, we came up with this "Italian street cafe" setting to draw attention to her shop. Battling the weather, it took about a month to complete. The world is my canvas!

Waterfall
oil on canvas
24" x 36"
April 2000
I got the idea for this painting from the well known artist Bob Ross. I recreated this picture four times before sticking to this one. My younger sister would tell me that there weren't enough trees or that the sky wasn't blue enough. I don't know why, but I always seemed to listen.

Silent Beauty
chalk/pencil on paper
14" x 16 1/2"
Febuary 2000
This is another piece where I got the idea from a photograph in a National Geographic Magazine. I had a lot of fun working on this one, due to the fact I had a bit of a challenge getting the gold foil to stay on.

Going Solo
chalk/pencil on paper
20 1/2" x 19 1/2"
January 2000
When asked to produce a picture with texture, I wasn't quite sure what to do. So to get some ideas I looked through a National Geographic Magazine and found a great photograph of a fish. I immediately thought that by running chalk over candle wax, it would give me great texture for fish scales. I was wrong, the chalk didn't seem to work as well as I hoped it would. So, just messing around I took a colored pencil and tried again. This time it worked perfectly. This turned out to be my first experience with using both chalk and pencil as a mixed media.

Regina
charcoal on paper
24" x 18"
March 2000
This was my first experience with using charcoal. Regina was a friend who graduated in 2000. I asked her if I could draw this portrait from a photo of her as a five year old. I found it to be a little difficult at first, but then I always like a challenge.

Major Markdown
pencil on paper
3 1/2" x 6"
September 2006
Rather suddenly, this project was thrown upon me. I was to come up with a cartoonish man to be called "Major Markdown" for a car dealership here in Fairbanks. A final request, create him so he resembles their sales manager. With photo in hand and deadline on my mind, I created this pencil drawing hastily that morning. My fellow office cohorts assure me he is quite adorable!

Sunset
ink/watercolor on paper
5 1/2" x 6 1/2"
March 1999
Working fast has never been my strong point. Determined to get me out of the habit, Mrs. Donat, my teacher, forced me to finish something within ten minutes or less. This was the result. It was hard, but I'm glad she pushed me.

Lion Prints
Ink on paper
8" x 9"
April 1999
These are my first prints made from a carving I did out of linoleum. I experimented with textures and shadow as I carved the block. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I am happy with the results.

Island Wedding
charcoal on paper
14" x 17"
January 2007
This was a charcoal drawing I did for a friend as a wedding gift. After eight long hours of hard work and patience... I feel confident that I captured the beauty of my friend and her husband.

Eagle
charcoal on paper
14" x 17"
May 2007
A birthday gift for my father who absolutely adored a bald eagle drawing I did for my boss as a Christmas gift.

|
Modern Miner
charcoal on paper
11 x 14"
June 2007
Working off a composed photograph, this charcoal drawing was created for a friend as a gift to her husband.

Old World Pooh Mural
acrylics on interior wall
July 2007
This mural was created for the Modlin family but most important baby Mylee. In preporation of the arrival of their new baby girl, Amy & Geoff decided that a “Classic Winnie the Pooh” mural would be perfect for her themed baby room. I hope they love just as much as I loved painting it!
